Drug Rehab and Treatment

Drug Rehab/Treatment

Too many patients pick their drug rehab facility or treatment program based on location or cost  whether or not that treatment is really right for them. Choosing the right rehab or treatment program is important. In fact, research shows that picking the right one the first time leads to better results and less chance of relapse than selecting the wrong program.

If you or a loved one needs a quality rehabilitation program or drug treatment facility, contact the team at the National Alcohol and Drug Dependency Resource Center today. We’re committed to helping our clients find the perfect treatment facility that is not only right for them, but still within their budget.

Why Drug Rehab/Treatment?

Drug addictions are exceptionally difficult to treat and not all patients respond well to the traditional 12-Step program. A true rehab/treatment facility will assess the patient’s needs, personality and medical history to tailor a program that delivers results. And with our extensive database, we can help you find those rehab/treatment programs with ease.

Types of Drug Treatment Programs

When you or a loved one enters a drug rehab/treatment program you’ll have two options for treatment:

  1. Inpatient – Inpatient care is proven to be effective for drug addictions and is the number one recommended type of drug treatment. Unfortunately most patients try outpatient first before turning to inpatient rehab.
  2. Outpatient - Outpatient care programs are recommended for those who have outside obligations — career, family, etc. — or those who have close community ties and programs that can help supplement when the patient isn’t at the facility. Outpatient is recommended for those who’ve completed inpatient programs first, but can be done for first-time rehab goers as well.

What Happens in Rehab?

A good drug rehab/treatment program will first assess the patient and determine if there are any underlying conditions causing the addiction issue. Then they will go through a treatment process that typically includes, but isn’t limited to:

  • Detoxification – Detoxification is the first step in rehab. This step is critical because it breaks the body’s physical addiction to drugs and also removes any remaining drug toxins from the body.
  • Counseling - Counseling helps the patient have a better understanding of why he or she is addicted to drugs. It also helps explore necessary therapies and help physicians find the root of the problem — why the patient keeps using drugs.
  • Medical Care - Drug withdrawals can be serious and in some cases, fatal. At a drug rehab/treatment facility you or your loved one will be under 24/7 supervised medical care so that if a problem does arise, professionals are on-site to help.
  • Drug Addiction Education – Once the treatment is underway and the detoxification process is over, patients and their loved ones receive drug education. This helps teach the patient about what causes addiction and what will happen when they are out of treatment. This education helps family members understand what their loved one is going through.
